Common Pleas vs Magisterial Courts
Montgomery County court records become easier to track when the court level is clear. Common Pleas is the general trial court. Magisterial District Courts are the first local court level for many traffic, summary, landlord-tenant, and preliminary criminal matters.

Montgomery County Case Flow
Criminal cases often start in a Magisterial District Court for preliminary arraignment, bail, and preliminary hearing. If serious charges are held for court, the case moves to the Court of Common Pleas, where the Clerk of Courts keeps the criminal file. Federal Courts for Montgomery County
